Politics & Religion…don’t get me started

I cannot stand when people get into arguments over politics and religion. Specifically, when these arguments occur at parties or get-togethers with friends. These are two topics that should NEVER EVER be brought up at a party. Save it for the Church or the Temple or the Mosque or the sanctum of your own house. Nobody cares. Wanna talk about who you’re voting for? Save it for the voting ballot or the town hall meeting you regularly attend. Pick the appropriate places to have these discussions. You will never hear me bring up either of these topics. I’d rather watch paint dry than talk about these things. Don’t take my disinterest as a lack of knowledge on the subject either. I watched the first debate and plan on watching the others. Why? FOR THE JOKES! No, just kidding. I watch because I’m interested in seeing what these two have to say about the future of our country.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No one has the right to tell you what you believe is wrong nor do you have the right to tell them what you believe is right. Wars  have occurred and millions of people have died simply because of disagreements on religion and politics. They are hot topics. Why the hell would you think it’s a good idea to bring up a topic like that at a bar or party? Now, I don’t care what their political affiliation is, if they say they plan on getting rid of Big Bird then that’s a different story. I once got into an argument with someone because I refused to talk about who I was voting for. They said, “You know what, people like YOU are the problem. You’re just going to sit back and watch the world fall apart” I barked back, “Why do you think that? Because I don’t feel it necessary to explain myself to you? It’s confrontational people like you that are the problem!” He closed the confessional window right in my face.
