Ryan Nallen is an Actor and Improviser in Chicago as well as a Contributing Writer for Second City, Redeye Chicago, TimeOut Chicago, Elite Daily, and Thought Catalog. He is a graduate of iO, the Second City, the Annoyance theatre, and has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
As an improviser, he has performed with the House team Desperado at the Playground Theater, the Harold team Denver at iO, and, in January 2013, performed 31 days of improv in a row at theaters all around Chicago. In addition, he is a former member of the independent team Switch Committee, which received a prestigious review from the Chicago Tribune, held two year-long runs at iO Chicago, and taught and headlined at over 10 improv festivals around the country.
As a writer, he has written over 21 satirical articles for Second City including 6 that were featured in the Redeye. Furthermore, he’s fallen down in more than one Clickhole/Onion video.
Prior to venturing into the arts, he was a successful wrestler who compiled a high school career record of 117-11 in addition to being an Illinois State Place-winner, 3x State Qualifier, and Division I recruit for the University of Illinois (Champaign-Urbana).
